November 20th, 2008 · sports

Lake Travis (37-10) pushed Highland Park to the brink of elimination Thursday night at Strahan Coliseum, but fell 17-15 in the fifth game of the state semifinal match.

Highland Park won the opening game 25-20, but Lake Travis bounced back with a dominating 25-15 win in the second game. The Lady Scots won the third game 25-20, but the Lady Cavs had an answer yet again, winning 26-24 in the fourth.

Lake Travis carried the momentum into the fifth and deciding game, leading 12-10 down the stretch before Highland Park pulled back to tie it at 13-13, and then took the lead 14-13. Lake Travis would tie it twice before a Highland Park kill attempt bounced off a Lake Travis block and out of the reach of the Lake Travis back row.
